About Me

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed to practice in California and Massachusetts. To qualify for licensing as a Psychologist, I passed a national written examination and a written examination regarding the laws and rules of practicing as a Psychologist in each state. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Brandeis University. Following, I attended graduate school at the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego, and earned both my master's and doctoral degrees. My academic focus was on children and family. My doctoral dissertation focussed on women's relational and sexual functioning following date rape. My post-doctoral experience was at a day treatment facility for people with chronic and acute mental illness.

My Approach to Therapy

Psychotherapy is a dialogue. I view it as a partnership and will work with you to develop healthy and adaptive tools, utilizing the strengths that you already have, to improve your quality of life. By coming to therapy, you have already decided that there are areas in your life that you want to change. In my office, you define the problems to work on. I use special knowledge to help develop a plan and teach skills to help you resolve these problems. Each client is unique and requires an individualized treatment plan. Therefore, I use a variety of techniques and pull from different therapeutic theories in order to customize therapy to the needs of each client. Primarily, I draw upon the Cognitive Behavioral model, which looks at how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I also utilize Family Systems Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy as well as other methods to assist you in your growth and recovery.

I provide individual, couples, family, and group counseling. Sessions last 50 minutes and usually occur once per week at a mutually agreed upon time. On occasion, session length and frequency may vary.
